Quantum Of Awesome!

Bond is back for the second installment of the newly revitalized franchise and it’s totally, completely, awesome! While the new films stray away from the campy adventures we have all grown to love it is refreshing to see the world o07 shown with a little subtlety and grace. Yes, gone are the days of laser watches and sub-marine cars. I will miss those things. However I welcome the dose of realism and the substance derived from a more sophisticated narrative.

The new bond will not appeal to the casual moviegoer but not appealing to a demographic that collectively paid forty million dollars to watch Epic Movie probably isn’t a bad thing. While the new films have done away with some of the things that have come to represent James Bond I think that true fans of the series will appreciate the subtle throw-backs and the attention to detail.

The creators of Casino Royal flawlessly merged their conception of Bond with the character we have come to know. Quantum lives up to its predecessor, by all means. Despite my skepticism, I walked away from Casino Royal feeling that although the exterior had changed, what was underneath was still Bond. I felt no different with Quantum.
